Salary:
Starting salary is between $59,458 and $63,112 per year (full-time) based on prior nursing experience in the designated discipline. Candidates who are new to state service are eligible for a sign-on bonus of $1000. NOTE: Nurse Clinician 2s employed at MMHI will receive an additional $1.00 per hour add-on for all hours worked. This position is in pay schedule 11, range 40. A six-month probationary period is required.
Special Qualifications:
Individuals must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Professional Nurse in the State of Wisconsin. MMHI is willing to hire qualified applicants with a Permit to Practice. The Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (DMHSAS), Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI), Madison (Dane County) is continuously accepting applications for these positions.  NOTE: Vacancies may or may not be available at the time of your application.  Positions may be full-time or part-time.  For additional information about Mendota Mental Health Institute, please visit the following web site: http://www.dhfs.wisconsin.gov/MH_Mendota/index.htm.

Job Duties:   The Nurse Clinician 2 will provide skilled nursing care to patients; provide patient assessment and treatment; manage medications; assist the physician in providing medical services; provide emergency care and maintenance of treatment records. In addition, this position plans educational programming for staff and patients.

Special Notes:   Due to the nature of the position, all applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow the Department of Health Services to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

Current general nursing theory, process and nursing standards; assessment and identification of health care needs.  Ability to make pertinent visual observations and comprehend and retain specialized vocabulary and abbreviations.
