The employment register established as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and/or part-time vacancies that may occur at the following correctional institutions:  Waupun Correctional Institution (Dodge County), Green Bay Correctional Institution (Brown County), Taycheedah Correctional Institution (Fond du Lac County), Dodge Correctional Institution (Dodge County), Oshkosh Correctional Institution (Winnebago County), Stanley Correctional Institution (Chippewa County), and Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility (Milwaukee County).

Job Duties:   Perform health care services to incarcerated offenders in ambulatory and infirmary settings, which requires skilled technical care. This includes routine daily care of acutely ill and/or disabled patients, assisting in assessment of patient health needs, performing activities of daily living, making observations and reporting to a RN, assisting physician with physical exams, routine diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, maintaining records, and providing emergency care.

Special Notes:   

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   General patient care and current nursing procedures; ability to assess patients by making accurate observations of signs and symptoms for a wide range of injuries and illnesses; ability to perform effectively in emergency situations; and ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
